This summer has been incredibly busy with all the events happening in the local community. We took a trip to the Ann Arbor Art Fair which laid host to hundreds of art vendors from around the country. In addition, Mom was able to see Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi give a speech at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial, and was interviewed afterward by a local newscaster. We were also able to spend a day as a family at the local park to see the fireworks and participate in numerous Regatta activities celebrating the 4th of July.

On April 26, 2008, a beautiful day in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the University of Michigan graduated thousands of Students in the Class of 2008. There were over 30,000 thousand friends and parents in attendance. The Commencement Ceremony was held on Central Campus rather than Michigan Stadium, which is currently under renovation. The Keynote address was given by Bob Woodruff, an ABC news journalist, who gave an insightful and entertaining speech. This event was a wonderful opportunity for thousands of families to spend time honoring the students who will be the leaders of tomorrow.

Fares' South High School Swimming season 08

The 2008 Grosse Pointe South High School swimming season created great excitement in the local community. The team swam well both at the district and state levels, earning 16th place at the State meet, and had the largest swim team at the state meet. Fares earned personal best times in every event he swam, and qualified for the state meet in the 200 Medley Relay. The team is expected to grow in strength, and will anticipate next season in a new 12 lane pool.

Winter Activities 2008

The 2008 Winter season was frigid cold, nevertheless hundreds of people gathered to witness and experience ice carvings and shopping in downtown Grosse Pointe Farms. The Ice sculptures were fantastically carved and formed, giving a very lifelike sense. Mom did face painting for children in the heated tent, where people could enjoy hot coco and the live band playing music.

The community read about our newly acclaimed prizes and congratulated us by naming Fares the Pointer of interest for that week. Fares was so honored to be selected to represent the family as we headed into our Panasonic Living in HD adventure. You can read the Article here.

In addition, Fares was written about in his school paper at Grosse Pointe South High School.

Panasonic Arrival/Celebration

The anticipation grew knowing we had a large amount of Panasonic Toys coming our way. The delivery date was set to December 21, 2007. Unfortunately, Fares and Cinderella just missed the the arrival of the Panasonic Living in HD suite traveling to school in the morning. We all opened the boxes together at night, and looked forward to using all the products together.
